We strive to achieve our vision of a safer, fairer world where all people can live a life free from poverty.

In a world rich in resources, poverty is an injustice which needs to be addressed. We are striving to achieve our vision of a safer, fairer world where all people can enjoy a life of hope and opportunity, free from poverty and suffering.

We work with poor communities and local organisations to help people address the root causes of poverty.

To achieve lasting change, we need to challenge and change unjust policies and practices that reinforce poverty. That's why we work not only at the grassroots level but also with organisations, institutions and governments at the national and international level.

Oxfam believes that every child, woman and man has the right to development. We are committed to fighting for a world where all people can:

Oxfam adheres to the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and believes these rights are fundamental and non-negotiable for all people, no matter who you are or where you live.

Our goals

Our work is focused on four goals:

  1. Economic justice: supporting people to make a decent living, leading dignified lives free from poverty and hunger.
  2. Essential Services: helping people to access clean water and sanitation, healthcare and education.
  3. Rights in crisis: supporting people to live safe from war, violence and natural disaster.
  4. Gender justice: ensuring women and men enjoy equal rights, and live free from violence and discrimination.
