Where your money goes

Your generosity means that Oxfam can do more to achieve lasting change to benefit the poorest people. In all our work, we aim to be effective and efficient.

Oxfam is accountable for achieving the highest standards in programmes that are effective in helping people help themselves and achieve their development rights. We keep overhead costs below 5 per cent and ensure that around 80 per cent of all funds raised are spent on programmes. For more information about our record of achieving results in humanitarian relief, long term development and campaigns, and details of our finances, please read our Annual Review.

Appeals

There is a slightly different financial breakdown for appeals, such as our 2011 Horn of Africa food crisis appeal. Here at Oxfam, we do everything we can to keep our overheads as low as possible, but as you can imagine, there are costs involved in raising funds, sending them overseas, and getting food and clean water to where it is needed most.

Around 85% of your donation will end up with our colleagues on the ground.  We are thoroughly audited every year, and you might like to have a look at our annual financial review.
