Team IEP

International Exchange Programs (IEP) is a non-profit organisation specialising in sending young Kiwis on work, travel and volunteer programs overseas. We encourage thousands of NZers every year to challenge themselves on one of IEPs work and travel programs.
With the launch of 5 new volunteer programs around the world; Cambodia, Peru, USA, South Africa, and Costa Rica, there are loads of opportunities for everyone to get involved in making a difference.

This team is made up of 4 IEP girls who thought the challenge of walking 100kms would be awesome and give us gorgeous toned legs(!)... until the reality of how far it really is set in. The first walk of a few hours left us sore and grumpy, and the team nearly fell apart, but we saw the light and remembered what a good cause we were walking towards!!
Jokes aside, we are all dedicated and excited about this huge challenge both mentally and physically, and the training that's required to get us to that finish line.

Our team is made up of the following fabulous and fearless (albeit a little high maintenance) girls;

Dej - who loves to travel, but never thought she'd be travelling 100km on foot in 24 hours!
Kirsty - who wishes her 2 strong dogs could participate to pull her up the hills and carry our drinks.
Cherie - the eternal optimist, with tendencies to be a little unrealistic, but always manages to convince everyone else first.
Laura - the token blond American cheerleader (like seriously!) who never backs down from a challenge.

To all our supporters worldwide we want to say a HUGE THANK YOU for backing us on this adventure, and contributing to making a positive difference to those that Oxfam helps.

Thanks to SPACESHIPS for donating us 2 wicked vehicles for us to use (not to cheat on the walk with  ... but for our support team, transport and the power naps at the rest stops!!)

Also THANKS SO MUCH to our unsung heros... our support team!  (you guys don't know what you have let yourselves in for!) Therese, Tim, Marcos and Lauren .... you guys are amazing and we are so happy to have your support for the this challenge!

TRAINING LOG!
Sat 8th March - anyone who is going to attempt to walk from Bethalls Beach to Muriwai Beach BEWARE!  This was perhaps the steepest hill in the Auckland region!  (1 hour straight up), we didn't make it quite to Muriwai, but we did a 4 hour walk in total so not a bad effort!

Sun 9th March - another 4 hour walk, this time from Milford beach to Devonport return.  Legs felt a little tired after the big hill the day before, but all in all whole team doing really good!

Coming up - Sunday 16th March - Dej is not only running 'round the bays, but she is then walking back to the city!   The rest of team ... we are walking from Devonport to Long Bay ... and wait for .... then back again!!!  (well as much of this as we can do in 8 hours anyway :)

FUNDRAISING LOG

Chocolate!! What better way to start a fundraising log than with chocolate!!! 48kg's worth in fact! We'd like to give a huge THANK YOU to all our friends who have been selling Cadbury chocolate for us. It will help us immensely in our fundraising. It's a tasty way to fundraise, and I know that half of you have not in fact sold all the chocolate to others, but eaten it yourselves!! But of course you are eating it for a good cause, so no guilty feelings here! ;-) And Team IEP are not exempt, as we have eaten a lot of the chocolate ourselves....but we need all the energy we can get right?!

Sausage Sizzle: Tomorrow is the big day when we'll be outside of Pack ' n Save in Albany, sizzling sausages for shoppers and whoever passes by. So if you're in the neighborhood come and see us outside Pack 'n Save, Saturday March 22nd, from 10am.
