Our team is made up of four ordinary, non sporty women. None of us are marathon runners. In fact none of us are runners at all—except sometimes to catch a train or ferry. The idea of walking 100 kilometres in less than a weekend sounded as ridiculous at first, as it did when we told our friends and family.
Three of us have children—ranging from five-years-old to adults. Two of us work in hospital management and two in publishing. One of the magazines we make is Good magazine—New Zealand’s guide to sustainable living.
Good magazine is about good people, good living and good choices. What better way to commute home from work than to walk it? How better to kick off 2009 than to set ourselves a huge personal challenge and along the way raise money for the great work Oxfam does with some of our poorest Pacific South East Asian neighbours.
We are the Good walkers—ordinary people attempting something extraordinarily. We’re not quite sure how we are going to make the full 100ks, but we are determined to try. We’ll be helped along the way by plenty of coffee, chocolate (fair-trade, of course!) and your support. Be good. Please make a donation NOW!
