AMBLING ON

A team of 4 led by Ruth, who completed the Trailwalker in 2008. She was mad to do it then and obviously crazy to do it again. And when the remaining team members fell by the wayside either through injury or the realisation of what they had committed to, Ruth was on the lookout for more. Kay & Megan are good friends who walk together each morning before walking or biking the kids to school. So the jump from 10km to 100km only seemed like adding a zero - crazy and keen! Stuart is Kay's brother and he had come along on training WUNS (a little bit of Walking but mostly rUNning) and purely for FUN? so he definitely fitted the bill. So back to a team of 4 dedicated walkers. We have trained on the riverbank, over hills and up mountains and intend to complete the event in under 24 hours. We have discussed everything from current affairs, politics, tv programmes, the state of the world, what we will eat (in fact in Kay and Megan's case the team should probably have been Rambling On). We have sung songs "I have walked 100 miles" by the Proclaimers and have discussed the multitude of alternative ways of wearing the BUFF. "Walking in the Buff" photos are shown. We are well supported by friends and family who have dug deep and contributed to the very worthy cause and particularly the Riv Bars and Cafe who have provided our shirts and logistical support. Thank you all.
