As fighting intensifies in northwest Pakistan, over 3 miliion Pakistanis have fled their homes. Oxfam is working to provide essentials to the people in greatest need. However our efforts are being severely hampered by a lack of funds.
Renewed violence has forced some 250,000 people to flee their homes since August 2008. Thousands of people displaced are still unable to return home. Oxfam is there, continuing to help those worst affected by the fighting.
Cyclone Nargis hit the Myanmar delta region in May 2008, washing away entire communities. Despite the challenges, Oxfam has provided immediate and longer-term assistance to over 250,000 people.
A devastating earthquake struck south-western China in May 2008, leaving an estimated 65,000 people dead and millions homeless. Oxfam is helping survivors in remote, rural areas throughout Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces.
