One year after the devastating flooding, hundreds of thousands of Pakistani people remain in camps. Oxfam is on the ground providing food, clean water, sanitation kits and hygiene supplies. We plan to reach at least 1.7 million people in some of the hardest-hit areas.
When devastating floods hit Pakistan in July and August 2010 large numbers of people were forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in temporary camps.
Here ten-year-old Reshma talks about life in Shahbaz camp, where Oxfam provided clean water and sanitation facilities, and ran a cash grant programme to help people get back on their feet.

Oxfam ran special 'cash-for-work' schemes to help those whose livelihoods were washed away by last year's devastating floods get back on their feet. These provided people with a much-needed income by paying them to help clean up flood-affected areas and rehabilitate facilities. Ali Hassan was one participant in the scheme. In this time-lapse film he collects a cheque for some of the work he's done, and drives his motorbike to the local town to cash it.

In 2010 Pakistan was hit by its worst natural disaster. More than 1,750 people are thought to have died, with an estimated 18-20 million people affected by the floods.

Millions of people are still trying to recover from last year's devastating floods in Pakistan. Oxfam is working with communities to help them be better prepared to face potential future disasters.
