Fairtrade

Choosing Fairtrade products is an easy and effective way to ensure that producers and growers in the developing world get a fair price for their goods so they can work their way out of poverty. There are heaps of ways to get involved.

Bananas for Fairtrade: buy yours today!

We’ve just found out that unless sales of Fairtrade bananas increase soon, they won’t be available in New Zealand for much longer. We urgently need to convince more supermarkets to stock Fairtrade bananas so many more of us can buy them in our weekly shop – this will give banana growers in Ecuador the opportunity to work their way out of poverty.

Oxfam's Biggest Coffee Break 2010

Thank you to everyone who helped make Oxfam’s Biggest Coffee Break a success again this year. Across New Zealand, over 20,000 people took part in Oxfam’s Biggest Coffee Break during Fair Trade Fortnight, helping struggling coffee growers in the developing world work their way out of poverty.

Fair Trade Fortnight is Fairtrade Australia/NZ's annual campaign aimed at raising awareness of Fairtrade and the Fairtrade label. This year the focus was on The Big Swap, which was aimed at encouraging more New Zealanders to swap as many products as possible to Fairtrade.
