We have a range of programmes aimed at supporting and enhancing the lives of individuals, families and communities in developing countries. Water for Survival in Bougainville (PDF) In 2009 Oxfam set up a new programme to provide improved access to clean water supplies and sanitation, as well as to provide hygiene education to local communities.

Water for Survival in Bougainville and the Christchurch Pledge (PDF) The city of Christchurch has made a massive commitment to Oxfam’s Water for Survival by aiming to raise $60,000 for the Bougainville programme in 2009-2010.

Restoring the Heart of East Timorese Society (PDF) Following more than 2 decades of extreme violence and brutality in East Timor, Oxfam is working with Movemento Cooperativo Economico – Agricola (MCE–A) in remote rural areas with rice and coffee farmers to rebuild rural economies, increase farmers’ resilience and aid their ability to grow surplus food for sale and storage.

Water for Survival in East Timor (PDF) Oxfam’s Water for Survival Programme is working with some of East Timor’s most impoverished rural communities to improve access to clean water and sanitation.

Gender justice in Fiji (PDF) Oxfam New Zealand has a long-standing relationship with the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement (FWRM) to end gender discrimination and to bring about positive change to secure women’s basic human rights.

Gender justice in Indonesia (PDF) Oxfam is working to achieve fairer treatment of women by the legal system and wider society in Indonesia. We are also working hard to stop domestic violence and to protect the human rights of women.

Improving livelihoods in rural Papua (PDF) Oxfam New Zealand is working with an innovative local organisation to raise the standard of living of poor indigenous Papuans in remote Highland communities through the development of sustainable cash-cropping techniques.

Sustainable livelihoods in Papua New Guinea (PDF) Oxfam is helping rural communities in the Tari district in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea to develop sustainable livelihoods by improving their health and incomes.

Peace and refuge in Papua New Guinea (PDF) In the Kup region of the Highlands of Papua New Guinea Oxfam is helping reduce armed conflict and establishing a gun control coalition to curb the use of firearms.

Water for Survival in Papua New Guinea (PDF) Oxfam is working towards improved access to clean water supply, sanitation and hygiene education in the Highlands region and Bougainville, two of the poorest regions of Papua New Guinea.

Enhancing rural livelihoods in Samoa (PDF) Oxfam New Zealand is working in partnership with Women in Business Development Incorporated (WIBDI) to improve livelihoods in rural Samoan communities through income-generating opportunities from organic farming.

Water for Survival in Tanzania (PDF) Oxfam New Zealand is working to improve the health and quality of life of some of the poorest rural communities in the Tabora region of Tanzania. We are doing this through the provision of sustainable and improved water supply, sanitation, and hygiene education services.

Educating young people in Vanuatu (PDF) In 2009, Oxfam’s Livelihood Programme is working with the Vanuatu Rural Development Training Centres Association (VRDTCA) to help young people learn practical skills.

Water for Survival in Vanuatu (PDF) Oxfam New Zealand is working with Vanuatu’s poorest rural communities to improve access to clean water and sanitation.
