Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia is a vast and diverse region, united by the many problems associated with poverty and inequality.
Asia is home to 60 percent of the world's population. It is also home to two-thirds of the world’s poorest people with 800 million people living on less than US$1 a day.
Oxfam New Zealand is currently working with some of the most disadvantaged people in the following countries and regions in Asia:- Indonesia
Oxfam is carrying out livelihoods and gender rights work in Indonesia. - Papua
Oxfam is working with indigenous Papua communities, supporting farmers and fishing communities to improve their income. Focusing on indigenous Papuan women, children and men, the programme aims to redress the imbalance between indigenous Papuans and the Indonesian migrants. - East Timor (also known as Timor-Leste)
Oxfam is working on livelihoods and health and nutrition in East Timor.
