Imagine the possibilities. Blend an effective communicator with a humanitarian advocate, add in creative genius, strong news sense, a pinch of PR savvy and then mix with Oxfam passion. What a recipe!
Oxfam New Zealand is an international development agency affiliated to Oxfam International. Through our media outreach, online and editorial work we seek to raise public awareness, build a strong profile and attract a diverse range of supporters who will enable the organisation’s strategic goals. With your communications experience and well-rounded skills, you will play a key role in helping to overcome the injustice of poverty.
Creative and innovative, you will hold a qualification in journalism or public relations (or have gained equivalent industry experience), possess excellent writing and editing skills, have experience developing media strategies and a sound news sense. Experienced in writing press releases and articles, organising photo opportunities and pitching stories to the media, you will be skilled in tailoring media output to fit Oxfam’s goals. An active interest in international development is important, as is sound political judgement and solid computer skills. Experience of video editing (using AVID) and/or still photography would be a huge asset.
If this sounds like the perfect opportunity to live your values through your work, we are able to offer a minimum starting salary of $53,960 per annum and possibly more, depending on the skills and experience of the post holder. The role is potentially open to job sharing, so candidates who prefer part-time may also apply.
