Are you interested in making a difference to those living in poverty? Do you relate easily to people and have a great telephone manner?Does part time working suit your current lifestyle?
Oxfam New Zealand is part of a global organisation dedicated to overcoming poverty and social injustice. Working with people caught in extreme poverty (especially in the Pacific and Asia), we provide practical support with essentials like safe water, basic education and a reliable food supply. And when natural disasters or conflicts strike, Oxfam is there, not only to save lives but to help communities recover. We also seek to ensure there’s lasting solutions by advocating for change to the structures and policies that keep communities in poverty.
We currently have a part time vacancy in our Relationships team for an outgoing, people orientated individual with tele-fundraising experience, preferably gained in a marketing or fundraising function. You will be talking to new and existing Oxfam supporters about our current humanitarian, advocacy and development work and encouraging them to join or increase their contribution to Oxfam+Me!, our regular giving programme, as well as ensuring they have an outstanding experience and are taken on a supporter journey that results in deeper engagement with Oxfam for longer.
Our ideal candidate will have excellent telephone communication skills, a proven track record of success in tele-fundraising (while telesales experience and/or experience of cross calling to incoming callers would also be useful), and experience of working in a target driven environment. You will be able to work independently with limited supervision, have good interpersonal, time management and organisational skills, solid IT skills in Microsoft Excel and Outlook and an interest in development and social justice issues.
You have the option of working from home or basing yourself at Oxfam’s Wellington or Auckland office.
Working five hours per day, you need to available to undertake shifts between 12.00 – 8.30 pm, Monday - Thursday, and 9.30 am – 5.00 pm on Fridays. The post attracts a starting salary of $19.37 per hour (and possibly more depending on the skills and experience of the successful postholder).
To apply, please send an up to date CV and covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Telefundraiser – your name”.
Applications close at 12 noon on Wednesday, 1 May 2013. Interviews are scheduled for Monday, 6 May 2013.
