Breaking the vicious cycle of poverty

You can help break the cycle of malnutrition and climate change that keeps families in poverty.

"I like going to school. I feel sad, but what can I do? I have no money, I have no food, and I have no uniform so I have to stay home." – Julmira, 11 years old

Julmira (pictured above) dreams of attending school. In Timor-Leste, a lack of food and malnutrition mean many children miss out on an education. Almost half of all children under five in Timor-Leste suffer from chronic malnutrition – one of the highest rates of child malnutrition in the world.

The vicious cycle of climate destruction, malnutrition and poverty means many farming families in Timor-Leste are struggling to survive with very little food. Oxfam, alongside local partners, is working to break this vicious cycle. Together we're providing training to local farmers and helping them save for their children’s future.

Will you help families in Timor-Leste to break free from poverty, and send their children to school?
