Send someone this card and you can help farmers adapt to climate breakdown.
By giving this card to someone you are donating to programmes like this one: empowering families in Timor-Leste who are on the frontlines of climate breakdown. An increased intensity of prolonged droughts threatens lives and livelihoods. Two years ago, Sabina and Mateus didn’t have enough food for the year and even though they had just harvested, their food was going to run out soon.
Your gift supports Oxfam’s programmes so that people like Sabina and Mateus can continue to receive farming training to help them adapt to the change in climate. This training focuses on increasing production and protecting crops from drought. Not only does it provide food for the family to eat but the surplus can be sold at the local markets. With this income, families are able to provide other essentials such as an education for their children. Your gift is transforming lives. “Life is much better now. There is more food, more water, we have animals now.”– Sabina Foni and Mateus Elo hold the fruits of their labour in Oecusse, Timor-Leste. Their harvest significantly increased since working with Oxfam.
