Oxfam's livelihoods programmes help people earn a steady, sustainable income so that they can pay for their children's school fees, improve their homes, and save for emergencies. For example, Bertha was supported with tools and techniques to raise chickens and grow different types of vegetables. The income from her roosters and hens helped her install solar lights in the entire community to illuminate her village at night. All of our work aims to change unfair underlying systems, so that everyone has the education, resources, and opportunities they need not just to survive, but thrive.
