Your gift can help support Oxfam’s programmes that give girls the chance to go to school, and those already there, the support to keep on learning.
In Papua New Guinea, unsafe water and poor sanitation at schools is one of the biggest obstacles girls face in accessing an education. Many girls miss out on schooling when they have their period, falling farther behind their classmates each month. Your donation can help support Oxfam’s programmes like this one – building private toilets and handwashing stations in rural schools so that girls can manage their periods safely and hygienically and spend more time in school getting the education they need.
“We are happy and are thankful to the people of New Zealand… they helped us with toilets and bathrooms.” – Senzie
Senzie knows what a difference it makes to have clean water and hygienic facilities. Oxfam supported local partners to build showers and toilets at her school so girls could wash and change in private. This empowers girls like Senzie to attend school when they have their period and means they won’t miss out on an education.
