Around the world natural and man-made disasters force millions of people to flee their homes and leave everything behind. Many arrive in refugee camps with only the clothes they are wearing. Your gift makes sure that refugees and others affected by disasters don’t have to go hungry.
One of the families that benefit from Oxfam’s humanitarian work is that of Nur. Nur is a Rohingya refugee from Myanmar, here pictured with her children Kaisar (7) and Sikander (2). After her husband was killed she took her children on a difficult and dangerous journey to safety in Bangladesh. Her older children now help with the running of the household, taking on tasks like going to the market to buy food with Oxfam’s fresh food vouchers.
Thanks to your gift we’ll be able to help many more families like Nur’s.
“Oxfam gives us a voucher so we can buy extra food – dried fish, chili powder, yellow powder, green chili, onion, salt, and eggs. We go to the shop with this voucher and can exchange it for things from the list of goods. With the vouchers, we are able to get some extra food – it’s a big help.”- Nur
