“We have animals now that we can sell if we need money and we can also sell excess food from our harvest.” Together, we are building a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world for women like Sabina in Timor-Leste.
Oxfam's climate change adaptation programmes help farmers improve their agricultural yields by using sustainable cultivation methods and crop diversification in combination with erosion control measures. More and different crops help them earn a steady, sustainable income so that they can pay for school fees, improve their homes, and save for emergencies. The people we work with rely on these techniques to make this income and our programmes support their efforts by helping them gain leadership positions, be involved in community decision-making, and get climate funding. All of Oxfam's work aims to change unfair underlying systems, so that everyone has the education, resources, and opportunities they need not just to survive, but thrive.
