Oxfam Trailwalker Health and Safety Intern

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together for a future without poverty. We give a hand up, not a hand out – to create positive change that lasts.

If you have some Health and Safety experience or training in this area and would like to develop a career in fundraising events management then we have your ideal role!  This vacancy sits within Oxfam New Zealand’s Events Fundraising team which raises $1 million+ per annum in support of Oxfam’s life giving work. You will be assisting the operations coordinator to deliver a safe event for our award-winning Oxfam Trailwalker (OTW).

We are looking for someone who is organized, flexible, people focused, IT savvy, a team player with great communication skills as well as having a good knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.  A great sense of humour will also go a long way when the pressure comes on, while a demonstrated commitment to Oxfam’s values is essential.

In return we offer you a unique opportunity to  help ensure a safe and positive experience for our participants and  be part of creating and achieving event goals not possible elsewhere. You will also be joining a talented events team and an organisation where the “heart” is truly in the work.

Starting on 31 January 2017, the hours are16 hours per week to March 2017 and rise to fulltime in the lead up to and during the OTW event (25-27 March 2017). We are flexible in that the postholder may be based at Oxfam’s Auckland office or work remotely from Whakatāne (where our Events Operations Coordinator is also based). The post is voluntary and offers a great chance for the right person to gain valuable experience in managing health and safety for a mass participation event.
