Safe water for Bougainville

Oxfam and its partners are expanding their water, sanitation and health work in central Bougainville.

Oxfam's team is training the community in building and maintaining water supply systems and sanitation and providing health and hygiene education.

Our objectives

Oxfam is working with local partners to improve health and hygiene for the communities of Bougainville.

Working with local partner organisations Tulele Peisa and the Bougainville Healthy Communities Programme, Oxfam is providing access to safe water and sanitation for communities in Bougainville by:

• Supporting the development of water and sanitation infrastructure in rural communities.
• Increasing the capacity of communities to own, operate and maintain their water and sanitation systems.
• Improving health and hygiene awareness and practices through community education.
